Ready to take your climbing to the next level? Our Learn to Lead Climb course is designed for confident top-rope climbers looking to step into the exciting world of lead climbing. Whether you're aiming for indoor routes or building toward outdoor adventures, this course gives you the skills, confidence, and knowledge to lead safely and effectively.

Over the sessions, you'll learn how to clip efficiently, manage rope systems, take and catch falls, and communicate clearly with your climbing partner—all under the guidance of our experienced instructors. By the end, you'll be equipped to lead climb indoors with competence and control.

Prerequisites: Must be 16+ and able to confidently top-rope climb grade 5c.

Course Breakdown

Gear Introduction
Learn about belay devices, quickdraws, rope types, and personal safety gear. -
Lead Clipping Technique
Practice efficient and safe clipping with both hands and stances. -
Lead Belaying
Learn how to feed rope smoothly, give dynamic belays, and catch falls. -
Fall Practice & Mental Training
Build confidence with progressive fall drills and managing lead head games. -
Route Reading for Leading
Understand how to plan clips and rests before leaving the ground. -
Safe Communication
Clear lead-specific commands and communication best practices.

Prerequisites

Confident belaying with a tube-style or assisted-braking device

Minimum age: 16 (under 18s require guardian consent)

Outcomes
By the end of this sessions, you’ll be able to:
