
Terms & Conditions – Indoor & Outdoor Climbing Activities

1. Bookings & Payment

All bookings with Above The Crux must be made in advance via our website, email, or approved booking platforms.
-
A deposit may be required to secure your booking. Full payment must be made prior to the activity start date unless otherwise agreed.
-
Bookings are only confirmed once payment has been received and confirmation has been issued.

2. Cancellations & Refunds
-
Cancellations made more than 14 days prior to the activity will receive a full refund (minus any booking fees).
-
Cancellations within 7–14 days may receive a 50% refund.
-
Cancellations within 7 days of the activity are non-refundable.
-
Above The Crux reserves the right to cancel or reschedule sessions due to unsafe conditions, staff availability, or unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, an alternative date or full refund will be offered.

3. Weather & Conditions (Outdoor Activities)
-
Outdoor sessions are weather dependent and will proceed in light rain where safe.
-
Severe weather (e.g. high winds, heavy rain, thunderstorms) may result in cancellation or relocation.
-
Final decisions are made by Above The Crux instructors in the interest of safety.

4. Indoor Session Policy
-
All participants must follow the rules and procedures of the climbing wall or facility being used.
-
Participants must check in as required by the venue.
-
Failure to follow wall rules or instructor guidance may result in removal from the session without refund.

5. Participant Responsibilities
-
Participants must follow all instructions given by instructors from Above The Crux at all times.
-
You must arrive on time; late arrivals may not be able to participate and may forfeit their booking.
-
Participants must be in good health and inform us of any medical conditions that may affect participation.
-
Suitable clothing and footwear must be worn.

6. Age & Supervision
-
Minimum age requirements apply depending on the activity.
-
Participants under 18 must have parental/guardian consent.
-
Some sessions require a parent/guardian to remain present.
7. Safety & Risk Acknowledgement
-
Climbing and related activities carry inherent risks, including injury or death.
-
By booking with Above The Crux, participants acknowledge and accept these risks.
-
Activities are delivered in line with best practice and guidance from Mountain Training and British Mountaineering Council.
-
All instructors are appropriately qualified, experienced, and hold relevant first aid certification.

8. Equipment
-
All technical climbing equipment is provided unless otherwise stated.
-
Participants may use personal equipment subject to instructor approval.
-
Any damage caused through misuse may be charged to the participant.

9. Instructor Authority

Instructors from Above The Crux have the authority to:

Refuse participation to anyone deemed unfit, unsafe, or under the influence of drugs/alcohol
-
Stop or modify sessions at any time for safety reasons
-

No refunds will be given in such circumstances.

10. Insurance
-
Above The Crux holds appropriate public liability insurance.
-
Participants are responsible for arranging their own personal accident or travel insurance if required.

11. Photography & Media
-
Above The Crux may take photos or videos during sessions for promotional use.
-
If you do not wish to be included, please inform us in advance.

12. Liability
-
Above The Crux accepts responsibility for activities delivered by its instructors but cannot be held liable for:

Loss or damage to personal belongings
-
Injuries resulting from failure to follow instructions
-
Actions of third-party venues (e.g. indoor climbing walls)

13. Group & External Bookings
-
The person making the booking is responsible for ensuring all participants agree to these terms.
-
Group numbers must be confirmed in advance.
-
External instructors or groups using facilities in conjunction with Above The Crux must comply with venue policies and booking procedures.

14. Changes to Terms
-
Above The Crux reserves the right to update these terms and conditions at any time.
-
The latest version will be available upon request or on our website.
​
15. Governing Law
-
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom.
